A Happy Formula
Hadhrat Luqmaan Alayhis salam – who was unanimously Hakeem (wise) and
a Nabi according to somewas employed as a labourer in an orchard.
One day, the owner of the orchard came and asked him to bring some
cucumbers. He peeled one and gave it Hadhrat Luqmaan who started
eating it with relish. The owner, witnessing Hadhrat Luqmaan eating
the cucumber with such relish thought that it must be rather
delicious. He placed a slice of it into his mouth and on finding it
was extremely bitter, spat it out and frowned.
"This cucumber is rather bitter," he addressed Hadhrat Luqmaan, "but
you were eating it as thought it was very delicious."
Hadhrat Luqmaan said, "Yes, of course! It is bitter."
"Why didnt you say so?" asked the master.
He replied, "What can I say? I thought to myself that the hand from
which I ate sweet things thousands of times, if the same hand gives me
something bitter just once, how can I show it on my face?"
This is such a principle that if both spouses remember it, there will
never be an opportunity for contention and dispute.
The wife should remember that the husband has put up with all her
frivolities thousands of times, what is there if he is hard with me
just this once? The husband on the othe hand should also ponder over
the thousands of times his wife had served him diligently.

Importance of Good Manners
1.It is related by Abdullah Ibne Amr radhiyallahu anhu that the
Apostle of Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "The best of you are
those who possess the best of manners."
Bukhaari and Muslim
2.Abu Hurayrah radhiyallahu anhu related to us that the Apostle of
Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "Muslims who possess better
morals are the most perfect in Faith".
Abu Dawood and Daarami
3.It is related by Abu Dardaa radhiyallahu anhu, that the Apostle of
Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: "On the Day of Reckoning, the
most weighty item in the Scales of Deeds will be good manners".
Abu Dawood and Tirmizi
Commentary
It would not be correct to assumefrom the above Traditions that good
morals were even superior to faith or the principal tenets likeImaan,
Salaat, Sawm(fasting), Zakaat and Hajj. The Holy Companions to whom
these sayings were directly addressed had already learnt from the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallamthat among the various branches of
Islaam, the most important were Imaan (faith) and the doctrine of
Divine Unity, and, then, came the fundamental duties. As for the rest
of the departments of religious life, some of them take procedence
over others in various ways, and the place of moral virtues,
undoubtedly, is very high, and in the attainment of success and
salvation in After-life and the gaining of the countenance of the
Lord, their significance is beyond question.
4.Aaishah radhiyallahu anha relates that she heard the Apostle of
Allah sallallahu alayhi wasallam say: "A Believer with good manners
and a good moral disposition gets the same reward as he who fasts
(permanently) and spends his nights in prayer ".
Abu Dawood
Commentary
It shows that a person who is a true Muslim, both in Belief and
Action, and, also, possesses good manners, but does not engage himself
much in nafl (supererogatory) fasts and prayers attains the same
degree of excellence, through moral goodness, as the one who,
generally, stands up in prayer throughout the night and fasts allday
long.

hadees
Question: "O Eminent Shaykh, may Allah grant you Tawfeeq, there are
many questions as to what is your advice to the students of knowledge
and other than them regarding that which has happened recently
regarding the derogatory film about the Prophet, what is the advice of
your Eminence regarding that?"
Answer: Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan[Hafidhahullah] :
"Our advice regarding that is to have comportment and not to show
disapproval in this manner; demonstrations or harming innocent people,
and wasting wealth, this is not permissible. Those who must respond to
this are the scholars, not the common folk. The scholars respond to
these affairs. They (i.e. the Kuffaar) want to cause chaos amongst us
and they wish to affect us; this is what they want. They want us to
fight one another. The soldiers withold while these people attack;and
there occurs beating, killing, and injury. This is what they want.
Calm down, calm down. Those who are responsible for responding are the
people of knowledge and insight. Or they could chose not to respond to
them and resolve not to respond. The pagans used to call the Messenger
a magician, a soothysayer, a liar etc. and Allaah commanded him to
have patience. They did not protest in Makkah nor did they destroy any
of the homes of the pagans nor did they kill anyone. Patience and
comportment until Allaah the Glorified and High facilitates a way for
the Muslims.
That which is obligatory is to have comportment; especially in these
times and in these tribulations and within this evil today which is
going on within the lands of the Muslims. It is obligatory to have
comportment and not rush into these affairs; and the commonersare not
fit to deal with this, for the ignorant donot know. None should deal
with this except the people of knowledge and insight."
